Puppy Potty Training Daily Schedule
Morning Start
7:00 am – Outside for potty (on leash). Praise if Puppy goes.
If Puppy goes potty → Supervised freedom inside.
If not → Back in crate 10–15 minutes, then try again.
Daily Schedule (Repeat Every 2 Hours)
9:00 am – Outside potty break
11:00 am – Outside potty break
1:00 pm – Outside potty break
3:00 pm – Outside potty break
5:00 pm – Outside potty break
7:00 pm – Outside potty break
9:00 pm – Final potty break before bed
(Adjust times to match your household schedule, but keep the every-2-hour routine.)
Food & Water
Meals: Feed on schedule, not free-fed. Puppy should potty 1–2 hours after eating.
Water: Puppy should potty 15–20 minutes after drinking.
Stop food and water after 6:00 pm to help Puppy sleep through the night.
Crate Rules
If Puppy doesn’t potty outside → back in crate 10–15 minutes, then try again.
Ignore whining in the crate unless it’s been several hours (then take Puppy out to potty).
Never let Puppy out while whining. Wait until calm and quiet.
Supervised Freedom
When outside the crate, Puppy should:
Practice obedience training
Play with a toy
Go for a short walk
Relax with you
If you cannot fully watch Puppy, tether them to you instead of letting them roam free.
Watch for Potty Signals
Take Puppy outside immediately if you see:
Circling
Sniffing the ground a lot
Sneaking off to another room
✅ Stick to this schedule every day. With consistency, Puppy will quickly learn that outside is the bathroom and that freedom inside is earned.
